After Justin Vizard waterproofed the basement, Eric Dobrzycki worked on transforming the basement into a beautiful living space. He installed our Drop Ceiling Tiles, which are specifically made for basement environments and have a 30 year warranty against mold and sagging. The new basement also has EverLast wall panels, which are engineered to never get moldy or rot, unlike the traditional drywall.

Job Stories From New Haven County, CT
A finished basement in Guilford, CT needed waterproofing

Martha H of Guilford, CT noticed her finished basement had wet spots in the carpeting. She realized that the wet finishing materials in her basement caused a potential mold problem and new she would have to do something about the situation before it got worse. After searching the web she found Larry Janesky's Connecticut Basement Systems and decided to have them come in for a free estimate to solve the water problem.

Shortly after giving them a call, an appointment was set for Mike Fuschetto to come evaluate the basement. Mike decided that having Al Guglielmoni install a WaterGuard drainage system and a TripleSafe Sump Pump system would be the best bet to get rid of any water. WaterGuard is a drainage channel that will lead any water coming into the basement to the TripleSafe pump system, where it will be then pumped out of the home a safe distance away.

Michael also proposed the SaniDry Basement Air system for Martha's basement. The SaniDry can dehumidify and filter the air at the same time. It's ENERGY STAR® rating makes it three times more efficient than common hardware store dehumidifiers.

Martha has been very happy and having no issues with water coming into her basement. It's now a dry, moisture free space that is safe to refinish and enjoy for years to come.

Waterproofing Job in North Haven, CT

This North Haven house was experiencing excess water leakage into the basement coming from the stairs, and it was beginning to cause floor damage. The owner wanted a solution to this unwanted moisture, so he gave Connecticut Basement Systems a call!

One of our first solutions was to install a TrenchDrain at the end of the stairs. Capturing surface water is often critical to keep a basement or other area dry. By coupling it with our Waterguard drain lines, these two work perfectly together to make sure water is removed from the basement entrance seamlessly. We also went forward and installed our SuperSump system, along with our SuperLiner. This premium plastic sump liner is the attractive alternative to an open sump pit. Perforations in the liner capture ground water, and a larger opening connects to the interior drainage system. The pump also has an airtight lid, keeping out debris and unwanted pests. All together, this is a full proof system that is sure to keep this basement dry for years to come!

Service Appointment in Middlebury, CT

This Middlebury home is an existing customer who has our WaterGuard System, SuperSump and SaniDry Dehumidifier. She called in to schedule her yearly maintenance appointment for the SuperSump pump and Dehumidifier.

On the day of the service appointment, Service Technician Justin Jaffer arrived at the home on time and greeted the homeowner. He then explained the procedure of what a maintenance included and asked if there were any questions or concerns about the systems. With no concerns, Justin went into the basement to evaluate the systems.

This was a simple maintenance routine. The SuperSump was pretty much clean with very little build up. Justin checked all the breathing holes of the sump pump and they were clear of any debris. So, with a scrub of the basin and a check of the battery, the system looked great. He checked the flow of water and then moved on to the SaniDry dehumidifier. With the dehumidifier, Justin opened up the system and replaced the filter. He also cleaned out any dirt or dust that was inside the system. Then he checked to see if the humidity was still at the recommended temperature of 55 degrees or below and it was. With both systems in pristine condition, Justin cleaned up and went to follow up with the homeowner. Justin gave a full report of what was done during this maintenance and reassured the systems were working perfectly.

It is important to schedule these annual maintenances for your sump pumps and dehumidifier. Just like this homeowner, having a successful maintenance every year is better and less expensive than skipping out on annual maintenances and having to replace parts or worse…have a flooded basement. So, make sure that does not happen to you and call to schedule your annual maintenance! 1-800-261-3693

Service Appointment in Waterbury, CT

This Waterbury basement had a maintenance for their TripleSafe safe pump that was a year past due. It is important to have your sump pump maintenance every year! The homeowner decided to schedule a maintenance this year and we were happy to come out.

On the day of the maintenance, Service Technician Justin Jaffer arrived at the home. After talking to the homeowner, he went to go inspect the sump pump. The first concern he noticed was that there was no power to the system and realized quickly that a breaker was tripped. Upon more evaluation, Justin realized that the primary pump was destroyed due to the iron build up that happened in the system. Since there was no power to the system, the secondary pump was discharging the water to keep the basement dry. (That is a great benefit of this system!) In addition to all of this, the battery was dead to the system. Justin had to replace the primary pump and the battery and had to scrub the rest of the system to get rid of the iron. After scrubbing and parts replaced, the system was running efficiently and the homeowner was happy. With so much iron build-up, Justin highly recommended to get a service maintenance every 6 months and to be consistent with the service!

Need to schedule your maintenance? Give us a call at 1-800-261-3693 and we will be happy to schedule a service!

Sump Pump and IceGuard Installation in Waterbury, CT

This homeowner previously had another company install a waterproofing system that didn’t work as hoped. During a storm, she had lost power and the basement had flooded completely. The house owner knew of Connecticut Basement Systems and picked up the phone to have us fix this issue right away. Our salesman, Doug, was able to provide a permanent solution for this home in Waterbury, CT.

Before there was a single sump with a generic liner that had a lid with a slot cut in it. To fix that we installed our TripleSafe sump pump system which is engineered with three levels of protection. The first level starts with the most reliable cast iron AC sump pump. There are also is two separate discharge lines so if one pump can’t handle the volume of water, then they can work to pump together. If you were to lose power, a third pump automatically starts. These pumps are fit in a custom engineered liner that has an airtight lid bolted down. Some features of our TripleSafe sump pump include: its patented CleanPump stand, which keeps the pumps out of silt and sediment that would wash into the liner. The lid of the TripleSage has a built-in FloorDrain to capture any plumbing leaks. Lastly, it has a WaterWatch alarm, that goes off like a smoke detector in the highly unlikely event of water passing all sump operating ranges.

As for the discharge line, the previous line was on their yard. This causes the water to go nowhere but back into the house whenever it was to freeze in the winter. We installed our underground discharge line along with our patented IceGuard, which allows water to escape and not backup. Our products and exceptional workmanship are guaranteed to leave our clients happy and secure household fixes.

Now with our permanent solution, the homeowner has a dry basement all year long.

Foundation Push Piers in Meriden, CT

A homeowner in Meriden, CT had a foundation that was cracked and settling, making the basement of the home very uneven. They called our Foundation Supportworks team at Connecticut Basement Systems to find a way to fix their big problems. After scheduling an appointment, one of our Sales Consultants, Gus Stozinic, drove to the home to visualize and understand the issues. He knew this would be a job for our Foreman Sergio Alves and Jacob Scott.

Eventually, it would be time to start the work. In order to install the push piers, a trench needed to be dug in the back of the house alongside the foundation. Once that was done, it would be time to begin push pier installation. They would have to first jackhammer into the footing to create a space for the piers to go. Then, they go below the footing of the foundation. Then, once installed, steel pier sections are hydraulically driven into the ground until they reach stable soil. Then the team would raise the foundation using the hydraulic pressure to ensure the house is no longer sagging and the cracks come together, but this is done slowly and carefully. Once the homeowner and Sergio were satisfied with the stabilization, the cracks were sealed on the outside and finally, it was time to backfill with soil. On the inside, the cracks had come very close together but were still sealed and waterproofed. Then Jacob installed CarbonArmor strips to strengthen and help stabilize the wall. Overall, this was a very large project, but the homeowner was very happy with the results, seeing her foundation transformed and no more settling!
