Severe Foundation Crack
The owners of this home told us that this started out as a tiny crack, so they didn't worry about it. However, it soon grew as the result of the soil around the foundation settling.
Sealing Foundation Cracks
Just re-sealing a foundation crack is not enough! Without fixing the underlying cause of the crack, it will only reappear.
Uneven Door Frames
Another sign of the foundation problems in this home was the tilting door frames. They caused the doors to stick shut.
Excavation
The first step to installing the push piers and raising the house is to excavate the soil around the foundation to expose the foundation footing.
Push Pier Installation
Next, rugged, interlocking steel pier sections were hydraulically driven through the bracket until bedrock or stable soil is reached. The weight of the home is then transferred through the piers to this load-bearing soil, instead of the shifting, unstable soil above.
Closing Foundation Cracks
As you can see from the tape, the push piers are beginning to lift the foundation to its original position and close the crack!
A Permanent Solution
Once the homeowner and installing contractor are satisfied with the stabilization or amount of lift, the soil can be backfilled. The home will be permanently stabilized in its new position.
