Rim Joist Insulation in Enfield, CT

Challenge

This Enfield home had a basement that was filled with cracks and holes that would allow unwanted air flow to enter the basement. This unwanted air would transfer to the main floor of the home which caused uneven temperatures throughout the home. The homeowner wanted a solution that would solve his air leakage problems. He did his research and decided to set an appointment with Connecticut Basement Systems to get a free, no obligation estimate. 

Solution

On the day of the appointment, Sales Representative Matt Kraus arrived at the home to inspect the situation. He noticed right away that the rim joists of the basement were not insulated which was the main area of the air leakage. Matt explained that having the rim joists insulated would close up the cracks and holes, preventing unwanted air to flow through. He also recommended an EverLast Window insert which will also solve air leakage around the old windows that he currently had. It would also let in a lot more natural light into the basement. Lastly, a Sanidry Sedona was suggested to keep the humidity low and eliminate any musty odors. The homeowner was impressed with all of these products and wanted to move forward with the project.
