Basement Mold
Mold thrives in conditions where there are high levels of humidity and moisture. Since mold needs moisture from the air to survive, the perfect solution to this problem is to waterproof the basement and install a dehumidifier.
Water Seeping Through Walls
The water and humidity that seeped through the basement walls stained them, and allowed mold to grow around the basement.
BrightWall Paneling
The Brightwall we installed in this home, which is 100% waterproof and washable, creates a vapor barrier on the basement walls to stop humidity and moisture from seeping into the room. It can also direct water seepage into your perimeter drain, to be pumped out of the basement.
WaterGuard Perimeter Drain
The next step to waterproofing the basement is to install the WaterGuard perimeter drain. It catches any water that leaks through the wall-floor joint, as well as collecting water from the BrightWall panels.
SuperSump Pump Pump
A good sump pump is the key to keeping a basement dry. The SuperSump, which we installed in this home, includes a powerful Zoeller ⅓ horsepower cast-iron sump pump, capable of pumping 2,500 gallons of water per hour out of your basement!
ThermalDry Flooring
Another nice touch we added to this basement was the ThermalDry floor matting. This flooring was made for basement environments. It's 100% waterproof. Since each tile sits on raised pegs, it creates a thermal break from the cold concrete underneath. The floor will be 8-10 degrees warmer because of it!
Transformed Basement
The finishing touch on this basement is the SaniDry dehumidifier. It not only removes up to 109 pints of water a day from the air, but it also filters out particles as small as 2 microbes. The owners of this home can now utilize their basement to its potential!
