WaterGuard System in Wolcott, CT
Challenge
This Wolcott, CT homeowner was unhappy with the constant, unwanted water entry through their basement. This left her basement wet, unappealing, and a strong odor of mold. This valuable space was not being utilized due to the water issue, and the homeowner was concerned her valuables stored in the basement would be destroyed by the water. Wanting to solve the flooding problem in her basement, she decided to give Connecticut Basement Systems a call for a professional waterproofing solution!
Solution
The Wolcott homeowner set an appointment for a System Design Specialist to give a free home evaluation estimate. Mick Foster was the specialist to evaluate this Wolcott, CT basement. He concluded that the best solution to solve this water issue would be to install a WaterGuard System paired with a TripleSafe Sump Pump. The combination of our one of a kind, patented products would ensure a waterproof basement. With the approval of the homeowner, there was no time to waste and Sid Avis and his production team quickly went to work!
First, Sid and his team moved any objects blocking the perimeter of all 4 sides of the wall to the middle of the basement and covered them with plastic to ensure maximum protection. Then, the perimeter of the walls is dug up in order to install the WaterGuard. Once dug up, the WaterGuard system is placed and the space is filled back up with gravel, then concrete is paved on top to seal it back up. The purpose of this system and its placement is to catch all the water that would have flooded the basement from underground and channel it to the TripleSafe Sump Pump.
Next, the TripleSafe sump pump needs to be positioned and installed. The TripleSafe Sump Pump has 3 pumps where…
Pump 1 is a heavy-duty 1/3 horsepower (HP) cast-iron Zoeller pump that does most of the pumping, handling up to 2,600 gallons of water per hour.
Pump 2 is a 1/2 HP pump that operates automatically if Pump 1 fails or if greater pumping volume is needed (up to 6,200 gallons per hour).
Pump 3 is a battery-operated pump that turns on automatically if power fails.
Once the Triple Safe Sump Pump is installed, a discharge line needs to be determined and then placed. A discharge line is where the water is channeled out of the basement, passing through the ice guard, then is released through the lawnscape.
A Quick summary of how the WaterGuard System and TripleSafe Sump Pump Work Together
Water that would have entered the home is channeled through the WaterGuard system which goes into the Triple Safe Sump Pump. Once it hits the Triple Safe Sump Pump, it filters up the discharge line and lead out of the home, finally escaping through the lawn scape.
Now with a waterproofed basement, this Wolcott, CT homeowner can enjoy a dry, clean basement, all thanks to Connecticut Basement Systems!
