Basement Systems CEO Named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year

Larry Janesky, CEO and founder of Basement Systems Inc., has been named an Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst and Young for his innovative work in the home improvement industry and his unique ability to help other entrepreneurs achieve success.

Janesky received the award Tuesday night at the New York EY Entrepreneur of The Year gala at the Marriott Marquis. He had been selected as a finalist from among hundreds of candidates in the region and said he was proud of the work he and his company are performing.

“We’re in a low glamour business and have operated under the radar for years,” Janesky said. “But the reality is that Basement Systems is at the leading edge technically, and has built a culture that attracts and keeps top talent. It’s great to be recognized by a wider outside audience.”

The award comes at a time when the “All Things Basementy” company is undertaking a significant expansion at its international headquarters in Seymour, Conn. Basement Systems recently opened its latest unique workspace, known as Forge and Anvil, and is adding a new, three-story building for its local operations, Connecticut Basement Systems, on its multi-building campus. Basement Systems is also adding space at two existing buildings that will total nearly 100,000 square feet.

Janesky founded Basement Systems, known as the All Things Basementy company, in 1987 as a provider of basement waterproofing solutions and, since then, it has expanded to become the parent company to more than 400 dealers in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom. The company now operates five divisions and generates revenue of more than $100 million.
