Basement Waterproofing in Watertown CT
Challenge
A bar owner in Watertown, CT had to close his business for a week because he couldn't figure out how he was getting water in the bar area which was in the basement. He called us here at CT Basement Systems and we got to the root of the problem. We discovered the water was coming through a crack in the bottom of his cement floor.
Solution
We jackhammered the edge of the floor and put in our WaterGuard® Below Floor Drain.
The WaterGuard® System is an award-winning, patented below-floor drain that rests in a bed of drainage stone on top of the foundation footing.
By installing the drain at this location, it's kept out of the "mud zone", the area where clogged drains are common. The unique shape and large drain openings of WaterGuard® also aid in preventing clogs in the system.
WaterGuard® is what we usually recommend and is our most widely used drain system. It's popular because of its resistance to clogs, its easy-to-access service ports, and its ability to also collect leaking water from the basement walls. All the water collected runs into the TripleSafe™ Sump Pump System.
For normal functioning, the TripleSafe™ has a powerful, cast-iron Zoeller® ⅓ horsepower sump pump set at the lowest level. For heavy volumes of water or in case of primary pump failure, a second, more powerful Zoeller® ½ hp pump set a bit higher in the liner will take over. In case of a power outage, our UltraSump® battery backup sump pump, set at the highest level, will pump 11,500 gallons or more on a fully charged battery!
The bar owner can now continue his business without any further issues.
